The City of Bellingham is hosting an open house on May 15th to present a draft Pedestrian Master Plan.  This is part of the planning process started last April.  The new draft plan will be available for public comment beginning May 1, 2012.  More information can be found at http://cob.org/services/neighborhoods/community-planning/pedestrian/pedestrian-master-planning.aspx

Bellingham Mayor Dan Pike is hosting a June 1 “listening session,” inviting the Bellingham community to help identify the scope of environmental review for SSA Marine’s proposed Gateway Pacific Terminal at Cherry Point.

The meeting is planned for 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 1 in the large courtroom at Bellingham Municipal Court, 2014 C Street. 

Goal is to continue community dialogue and prepare for formal environmental review, which will be conducted by county, state and federal officials once SSA applies for permits.

• Election of Officers:  Several positions are currently vacant including Treasurer and Pos. 1, 2, & 4 for At Large Representatives.  It’s not too late to sign up to become a part of the board.
• Special Guest, Sergeant Robert Vander Yacht:  Sgt. Vander Yacht has been with the Bellingham Police Department for 25 years and heads up the Bellingham neighborhood crime-fighting tool, the Anti Crime Team (ACT).  Come hear how Sgt. Vander Yacht and his team keep our neighborhoods safe.
